When Fauci speaks, fake news media leaps.
Barely a week ago, Fauci famously stated that he is “not convinced” that COVID-19 developed naturally, marking a rather dramatic reversal from his insistence otherwise just one year before.
Shortly after this stunner of a declaration, the fictional news media (surprise!) leapt into action, suddenly acquiring the most acute case of amnesia witnessed by the American public in quite some time.
Which is saying quite a lot.
However, while the fictional news media is simpering away for Fauci now, several amused journalists have not forgotten the polar opposite approach all the networks too last year.
Especially with regards to (the horror!) a lab leak theory, widely espoused by Trump, and, apparently (nearly 18 months later), King Fauci.
John Karl, a well-known Washington Correspondent for ABC News, wryly commented upon the media’s ultimate “egg in the face” moment.
“Yes, I think a lot of people have egg on their face … This was an idea that was first put forward by Mike Pompeo, secretary of state, Donald Trump, and look some things may be true even if Donald Trump said them. Because Trump was saying so much else, that was just out of control, and because he was, you know, making a frankly racist appeal talking about Kung Flu, and the China virus, he said flatly this came from that lab, and it was widely dismissed … but now serious people are saying it needs a serious inquiry.” [Source: Fox News]
In other words, Trump, Pompeo, and others were apparently “not serious” to the fake news media and other liberal eats.
So “not serious” that they embarked upon Operation Warp Speed, which brought about the very vaccines that Biden is bragging about now.
So “not serious” that they had the most serious grasp of what was really going on from the start, which is that China absolutely benefitted (tremendously) from the COVID pandemic, which provided them with essential a year’s head start in trying to surpass the American economy, and, by default, other elements of American power (cough, military, cough).
Then again, the new ultra-woke military ads might be doing more damage to the reputation of the American military than just about anything else ever could.
David Leonhardt, a reporter for the New York Times, also openly called out the “left” for its rather unimpressive response to the lab leak theory from more than a year ago, though calling their nonsense a mere “mistake” is a little too generous.
“I think people made this mistake. I think a lot of people on the political left and a lot of people in the media made the mistake. They said, ‘wow if Tom Cotton is saying something, it can’t be true.’ Or they assumed that. And that’s not right.” [Source: Fox News]
In other words, simply because a close ally of Trump dared to suggest that Wuhan might need to be looked at a little more closely, the fake news media automatically assumed that Cotton’s commentary was to be discarded.
However, some fake news journalists just can’t give up on the Trump hate, including Aaron Blake of the infamous Washington Post, where democracy (ironically) does indeed die in the darkness of fake news corridors.
“Given everything we know about how Trump handled such things, caution and skepticism were invited. That (very much warranted) caution and skepticism spilled over into some oversimplification, particularly when it came to summarizing the often more circumspect reporting.” [Source: Fox News]
“Circumspect reporting,” huh? Is that the fiction you guys tell yourselves daily?
Tell that to Nick Sandmann, who received a quiet settlement from the almighty WaPo after the newspaper literally launched nationwide death threats against a then-minor (no kidding).
Or, perhaps most of all, let’s look back at what Fauci himself had to say a year ago, which was clearly (and likely deliberately) the antithesis of what Trump had to say.
“If you look at the evolution of the virus in bats and what’s out there now, [the scientific evidence] is very, very strongly leaning toward this could not have been artificially or deliberately manipulated …
Everything about the stepwise evolution over time strongly indicates that [this virus] evolved in nature and then jumped species.” [Source: The Daily Wire]
Oh, right! The evolution in bats! Theories regarding viruses jumping across species!
That’s totally the best way to find out where an unprecedented virus just magically happened to leak all over the West and empower Democrat despots in disguise (not so much disguised anymore, however).
When considering all of the drivel above, Trump, as usual, said it best:
“People are tired of hearing Fauci and all these idiots, these people, these people that have gotten it wrong.” [Source: Breitbart]
Looks like Trump is right (yet again) while the rest of the swamp struggles in their attempts to keep up with him.
