Leftist cities have taken such utterly loony actions over the past several months that it becomes difficult to determine which city is the most insane.
After all, between Chicago, New York, Portland, Seattle, Los Angeles, and too many others to count, the “defund police” mania has clearly spread to general societal destruction, particularly when coupled with vaccine mandates for Americans and mass immigration of COVID-positive illegals.
However, San Francisco perhaps takes the prize for being an especially insane leftist city, or at least a highly viable contender for the most insane of all.
Just consider the total lack of self-awareness demonstrated by San Francisco Mayor London Breed.
“Many San Francisco businesses are already leading the way by requiring proof of vaccination for their customers because they care about the health of their employees, their customers, and this City …
This order builds on their leadership and will help us weather the challenges ahead and keep our businesses open. Vaccines are our way out of the pandemic, and our way back to a life where we can be together safely.” [Source: The Blaze]
Really? So vaccine mandates are the main way in which San Franciscans can “be together safely?”
Ask the average San Franciscan how “safe” they feel in a city that openly promotes organized crime, which has directly led to the closure of five more Walgreens stores.
And, unlike Southwest Airlines blaming “weather” for its cancellations (which is clearly untrue), Walgreens didn’t even bother to make up an excuse for why it left San Francisco.
Instead, the company was rather concise and clear as to why it has opted to close even more San Francisco-based stores.
“Due to ongoing organized retail crime, we have made the difficult decision to close five stores across San Francisco.” [Source: The Daily Wire]
Moreover, Walgreens spokesman Phil Caruso also doubled down on the reasoning for leaving San Francisco, openly citing “organized retail crime,” likely perpetuated by the same thugs that collect seemingly endless “support” from the government.
“Organized retail crime continues to be a challenge facing retailers across San Francisco, and we are not immune to that.” [Source: The Daily Wire]
Too bad that Mayor Breed decides to fixate on vaccine mandates over basic public safety, to the extent that the city shut down a fast food outlet for daring to not act as a local government enforcer.
Arnie Wensinger, In-N-Out Burger’s Chief Legal and Business Officer, announced that the city rather brazenly shuttered the operations of an In-N-Out burger for (gasp!) not demanding photo identification and vaccination cards from all patrons.
“On Thursday, October 14, the San Francisco Department of Public Health closed our restaurant at 333 Jefferson Street because In-N-Out Burger Associates (employees) were not preventing the entry of Customers who were not carrying proper vaccination documentation.”[Source: Fox News]
In other words, much in the same way that the Biden administration is effectively demanding for private citizens to report “suspicious” family and friends (i.e., conservative family and friends), it is also apparently expected for private businesses to act as enforcers for rather unconstitutional mandates.
Moreover, In-N-Out Burger is also owned by Lynsi Snyder, a devout Christian, which is precisely why Bible verses can be found on several In-N-Out cups and other products.
Given the treatment that Christian-owned Chick-Fil-A has received for years, one can only speculate as to why Mayor Breed decided to target this fast food chain.
However, one thing is for certain: Wensinger refuses to aid and abet an unprecedented degree of governmental intrusion.
“Our store properly and clearly posted signage to communicate local vaccination requirements … After closing our restaurant, local regulators informed us that our restaurant Associates must actively intervene by demanding proof of vaccination and photo identification from every Customer, then act as enforcement personnel by barring entry for any Customers without the proper documentation … We refuse to become the vaccination police for any government.” [Source: Fox News]

Frankly, California should fixate more aggressively on the disaster unfolding across its ports over whether or not a fast food chain is moonlighting as the TSA or some other equivalent government body.
As reported by local news outlet KABC-7, 100 enormous ships are now docked out at sea, as Buttigieg is too busy gallivanting about in paternity leave with his husband to give a flip about American consumers.
“The major backlog of container ships at the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach is the worst it’s ever been, with 100 ships waiting to enter and unload as of Tuesday …
That number breaks last month’s record of 97 vessels. To put it into context, there would typically be about 17 ships at anchor in pre-pandemic times. The two Southern California ports account for 40% of all shipping containers entering the U.S. … The backlog is only going to get worse with another 45 ships expected to arrive at the ports by Thursday.” [Source: Breitbart]
